How much tape do I need to tape a hula hoop?
Planning to decorate some hula hoops but not sure how much tape you’ll need? There are many factors that can affect your tape requirements – the width of the tape, the amount that each layer overlaps the previous, and of course the size (or diameter) of both the hula hoop and the tube of which it’s made. Our tape estimator for hula hoops is an easy and quick way to help you.
The tape estimator for hula hoops table below provides estimates for the total length of tape needed in metres for a single layer of tape that completely covers a hoop. Adding additional layers will allow you to leave gaps, reducing the length needed for each layer.
Simply find your hoop diameter and tube size to calculate how much tape you need. Some of our tapes come in different widths to complement the many hoop sizes available so we have included that below for you too! We assume a standard 5mm overlap but you can use the bottom table to calculate the reduced tape required for lesser gaps or addition of gaffer or other tapes.
